Numb

Rendered entirely in shades of blue, Numb captures a man mid-exhale, cigarette between his lips, eyes glassy and unfocused. Tears trace down his face, but there's no visible anguish in his expression just stillness, distance, the particular quiet of someone who has cried past the point of feeling it. Thick, dripping brushwork blurs the line between his face and the space around him, as if he's dissolving into it. Numb speaks to the exhaustion that follows grief once the initial pain has burned off not healed, just gone quiet.
