Veiled

Eyes closed beneath a blindfold of woven pearls, she doesn't flinch. Paint bleeds down her face and shoulders like water finding its way through a crack dissolving her, but not erasing her. This isn't submission. The blindfold is deliberate, almost ceremonial, a boundary she's drawn herself. Veiled refuses the world's gaze and turns inward instead, toward a knowing that doesn't need eyes to see. What looks like blindness is armor. What looks like stillness is control.
